A LITTLE INSPIRATION…
this Fall!!
For me, Fall comes with a few favorite traditions: apple picking; pumpkin patches; the kids jumping in piles of leaves; decorating with nature’s beauty; and of course the comfort foods inspired by Fall’s harvests.
We are fortunate here in Canada to have so many dramatic changes of seasons. Why? Each of the four seasons brings with it: a new ‘starting point’; a renewed energy; a sense of hope; and a feeling of enthusiasm to help us make a desired change in our lives.
Let Fall be the inspiration you need to try something new, change old habits, turn over a new leaf (sorry…I had to add that in there), or maybe start a project that you have been putting off. Here is a list of some IDEAS that might inspire change in your life:
– start writing your memories and create a Legacy Book for generation to enjoy
– put together a new routine with the goal of becoming more efficient and organized
– sort through clothes in a closet
– start a class or workshop series
– organize your photos
– decorate a room
– plant Fall bulbs (anticipating springs blooms)
– call an old friend that you haven’t spoken to in a while
– clean out the garage so that you can get your car in, before the snow flies
– make a lunch date with a parent or grandparent and ask them to tell you stories of their childhood
WHAT I RECOMMEND YOU TRY:

#3: RECIPE:
Apple Cake (I wish I could say no calories…but it is soooo worth it) — Source: from a dear friend Anne!
Mix together:
- 1/2 cup butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
Mix together separately and then add to the above mixture:
- 3/4 cups flour2 tsp
- baking powder
Prepare a 10″ spring form pan with baking spray or parchment paper and pour above mixture into the pan. Then stick into the batter:
- 3-4 apples (peeled, cored and sectioned)
The idea is to arrange the apples around the cake in rings, but the point of one end of the apple section sticks into the cake batter, while the other end is facing upwards. Start on the outter edge and work inwards until there is no more room for apples.Bake in 350 degree F. pre-heated oven for 50 minutes. Prepare the following custard, while the other is baking:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
Pour this custard over top the apples and return to the oven for another 20-20 minutes, until custard is baked through.
Optional: you can supstiture the apples for plums this time of year. Anne has encouraged me to try this ever year, so I hope to do so this Fall!!!Thanks Anne.
#4: FALL DECORATING IDEA
A LITTLE INSPIRATION…
for gift giving this holiday season.
Believe it or not, the holidays are around the corner and thousands of people will be looking for meaningful gift ideas for the ones they love. The malls will be bustling and the parking lots over-crowded. Point of purchase displays will try desperately to grab our attention with ‘best deal’ offers and ‘perfect gift ideas’. What to do? How to choose?
The fact is, the older we get, the less stuff we need. This makes it that much harder to find gifts for the people we want to honour and respect — our parents and grandparents. You may or may not have thought of capturing your mom or dad’s stories on paper (or on tape)? I am sure that your parents or grandparents have thought of writing down some of their life’s stories, but got stumped on “I have no idea how to start” or “If I start, where do I go from there?” or “I have lots of things written down, but what do I do next?”. So…
…here is A Little Inspiration to get your (or the one you love’s) ‘MYstory’ or ‘OURstory’ Personal Legacy Book started today.
A Little Inspiration MYstory and OURstory Personal Legacy Book workshops are a great solution for those who want to capture their stories themselves, but need guidance, support, encouragement, creativity, expertise and tools to get started. The workshop series is perfect for a individual (MYstory), a couple (OURstory), or for a parent and a sibling to attend together. It is an affordable way to document your stories and life’s details in a set time frame, so that you are motivated an inspired to complete everything in approximately 3 months, over seven workshops. You may be thinking about creating a Personal Legacy book as a gift to your family — your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren , and so on… You may want it to to be a surprise for a special occasion, or simply a gift for generations to enjoy. A Little Inspiration can do it all for you (or any combination in between). We have created ‘MYstory’ and ‘OURstory’ books for individuals who simply want to answer the insightful and inspiring questions and then leave the rest to us. A Little Inspiration will conduct the interviews, transcribe your stories, edit them (if you wish), scan photos and then lay everything out beautifully and thoughtfully in a one-of-a-kind hard cover book. My final thoughts on gift giving this holiday season: Use this as an opportunity to get started and capture the stories that will otherwise be lost. I am never pushy about things, but I would hate to see you with regrets. You never know what tomorrow will bring, so start today and give your family the gift of YOURstory. It is yours. It is precious. It priceless. And it will be enjoyed now and for generations to come.
If you are interested, please feel free to e-mail me or give me a call.
Sincerely,
Heather
